This course expands upon basic obedience by emphasizing the application of these skills in response to distractions and stimuli, and through an understanding of the socialization process. It introduces new cues and behaviors to enhance a dog's reliability and responsiveness.

After the initial class, participants can advance to further intermediate classes for a range of varied obedience, refined behaviors, and enrichment activities.

Prerequisite

Completion of Basic Obedience, or consent of instructor through a class placement evaluation. Request an evaluation.

Community Dog Training

Beginners - 1 class

LA Wildfires Initiative

Hosted by our charitable giving program, the Love At First Sit® Initiative, our drop-in Community Dog Training Classes are for beginners. Class proceeds are donated to CAMP (Community Animal Medicine Project) currently providing FREE veterinary aid and care to those impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires

Our Approach

Our classes are for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. Based in science, our program utilizes an ethical and force-free method known as the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA), with rewards and positive reinforcement.

Please note: Our classes do not address problem behaviors such as aggression, anxiety, fear, or reactivity.. Visit our In-Person Private and Virtual Training pages for help with these behaviors

  • This kinder class series focuses on socialization, introduction to life skills, and manners.

    These 6 weeks classes offer preparation for AKC Canine Good Citizen and AKC Trick Dog Evaluations:

    AKC Canine Good Citizen

    AKC Community Canine

    AKC Urban CGC

    AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy

    AKC Trick Dog: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Performer, Performer Elite. Each class concludes with an evaluation.

    AKC FIT DOG

    “The AKC FIT DOG is designed to bring fun fitness classes to dogs.” -AKC FIT DOG

    Purpose

    This course is designed to inspire dog owners to engage in fitness-related activities with their dogs while minimizing the risk of injury or harm due to inexperienced instruction.

    Class Structure & Details

    The classes are provided in 3 levels of 6-week classes, with different pre-requisites. Class costs vary.

  • Our workshops explore a wide variety of topics including enrichment, tricks, agility, life skills, canine sports, nose work, recalls, and more.

Class Placement

All dogs must begin in either Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Obedience, as appropriate to age. If you feel your dog is more advanced and should be placed out of a beginner’s course, you may request a group dog training class placement evaluation.

  • Up-to-date on Vaccines: DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies

    Need Vaccinations?

    Our partner CAMP provides Mobile Vaccine Clinics and Walk-in Clinic Locations that offer low cost cat and dog vaccinations, and other vet services.

  • All dogs must be fit and healthy.

    Female dogs Cannot be in heat.

  • Visit our trusted partner, CAMP (Community Animal Medicine Project), for a variety of affordable options that are designed to meet your pet’s healthcare needs!

  • Meet New Jersey transplant, Angelina Borodiansky! From comedy, writing, to artistry, and teaching ariel yoga, added to her long list of talents is being one of Love at First Sit®'s most seasoned pet care providers!

    Growing up with dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits enabled her to have a natural ability to care for a pets with diverse needs. Certified in Pet CPR and Pet First Aid, she has experience administering medication to pets, and caring for those with special needs. A Certified Professional Pet Sitter® (CPPS) through Pet Sitters International, she was a volunteer dog training class instructor apprentice for our community dog training classes, and a volunteer at the Santa Monica Animal Shelter. Her pet care services include caring for cats, small pets, and walking dogs of all breeds and sizes.
